Current Ferry Schedule

As St. John is a separate island in the US Virgin Islands, arriving guests will need to take a ferry boat from St. Thomas to get to St. John.  The two primary ways for guests to travel between St. John and St. Thomas are the passenger ferry and, if guests rent their vehicle in St. Thomas, the car ferry barge. A third option is a private water taxi which can be arranged in advance by contacting the CimmaronStJohn concierge team at guestservices@cimmaronstjohn.com.  Passenger ferries and car barges are boarded on a first-come-first-served basis.  Tickets must be paid for with cash and cannot be purchased in advance; however, a round trip ticket can be purchased upon arrival.  Below is complete ferry boat information needed by arriving and departing guests.

PASSENGER FERRY:  The Charlotte Amalia ferry is not currently running.  The Red Hook ferry eparts St. Thomas every hour on the hour between 6am and 8pm, except for 7pm.

CAR FERRY BARGE: Car barge departure times vary depending on how many barges are in operation on a given day, but it is very important to note car barge times based on flight arrival/departure times.  If arriving guests have rented their vehicle on St. Thomas and do not arrive in Red Hook in time to take the last car barge (5:00 pm) to St. John, they must leave their rental car in the public parking lot at Red Hook, take the passenger ferry to St. John that evening, and return to St. Thomas the following day to catch a car barge to St. John.  On the day of guests’ departure, delays in car barge schedules may not allow enough time to arrive at the airport to check in and catch their flight.

*If you purchase a round trip ticket on the car barge, please note you must use the return ticket with the SAME company you purchase the round trip ticket from.  If the barge company you purchased the round trip ticket from is not operating the day of your return or the time you would like to return to St Thomas you will have to buy a new one way ticket with the barge company that is operating.
